Make a real difference to a million more lives at Lakeside

With your support we can create a brand new facility for children and young people to enjoy and learn from Lakeside’s outdoor activities at a total cost of £6.8 million.

Support the ‘Changing young lives appeal’ and help us climb to our target

Set on the shore of Lake Windermere, YMCA Lakeside is one of the largest professional outdoor activity centres in the country. Our residential and day experiences are designed to inspire children and young people to grow in body, mind and spirit. Over one million children and young people have had the opportunity to take part in a Lakeside experience since the centre opened its doors in the 1950’s.

YMCA Lakeside has deteriorated since the 1990’s due to a lack of capital funds for investment at the site. Many of the buildings have been in continual use since the early 1950’s and are simply worn out by the million young people it has hosted over the years. So now a complete transformation is needed if the centre is to survive beyond the next few years and make it fit for the future.

See what Cirque Du Soleil artist ROSS GIBSON has to say about the ‘Changing Young Lives’ appeal

YMCA Fylde Coast is delighted to have received the support of locally born Ross Gibson for their Changing Young Lives appeal. The former British National Team member now stars in Cirque du Soleil’s Las Vegas show Mystere. Ross’s character Red Bird allows him to demonstrate his not inconsiderable gymnastic skills for which he is internationally famous.

Living the dream in Las Vegas, Ross has never forgotten where his career began or his home town:

YMCA gave me a great training facility to start with and some incredibly dedicated coaches. I have a lot to thank the YMCA for.
